Knowledge is essential in changing the lives of children. In order to provide equal learning opportunities to poor students in rural areas of China, we set up our first Ten Percent Hope School in Dabodi Estate in Yunnan Province.
People living in rural areas face many limitations which restrict their income growing capability. Children from these families often have financial difficulties, and cannot afford the boarding and meal charges. They also need to travel long distance from home to schools. As a result, a lot of students have to forfeit the chance of going to schools, and they have no chance to change their lives without the necessary knowledge from schools. The Hope School does not only offer a safe place with excellent teachers for students to learn, but also provides subsidies on meals and learning materials to children from low-income families, giving them an equal opportunity to build a brighter future.
